Our Shutters

Here at The Traditional Shutter Company, we focus on a few very special types of interior shutters: Traditional Shutters and Victorian Shutters, as well as the Embrasured or Pocket Shutter. We are one of only a few manufacturers who still produce these shutters.

Using Old World cabinetmaker joinery and solid custom-milled wood, we build our shutters by hand in our shop in Christiansburg, Virginia, U.S.A. We do not use prefabricated or mass-marketed stock parts. All work is done by our skilled craftsmen to the highest standards in the industry today.

Our Shutters

We build our shutters to last, and tailor them to your installation. All shutters feature:

  • Custom-Milled Solid Wood: No finger jointed wood, no “glued up parts,” no ready-made or imported parts, and no faux wood ever.
  • Old-Fashioned Cabinet Maker Joinery: Mortise and tenon construction, rabeted stiles, no shortcuts such as screw or pin assembly ever.
  • Nylon rotating pins: For smooth effortless louver operation and durability, other options are available.
  • Mounting: We typically provide mounting for your window including a light-blocking frame for superior room darkening performance. We are the only manufacturer to provide this.
